Footage Foundation Expands its Global Feminist Mission with a New Home in France
“Footage France reflects who we are and what we believe: that care is policy, compassion is infrastructure, and feminist action is solidarity.”
— Dr. Kristen Ali Eglinton, Co-Founder & Executive Director
We are proud to share that Footage now has a physical home base in France—a longtime vision brought to life. While we have worked across Europe for many years, this milestone strengthens our ability to respond safely and strategically in a time of growing global uncertainty.
In 2024, we formally registered Footage France (association loi 1901)—a permanent base for healing-centered feminist research, policy engagement, and cross-border solidarity. Today, we officially launch Footage France, marking a new chapter in our global mission and reinforcing our commitment to serving women, gender-expansive, LGBTQIA+, and marginalized communities—especially in the face of rising anti-rights and anti-gender movements.
France is a vital global hub for human rights, diplomacy, and gender equity. Establishing a legal and physical presence here reflects both a natural evolution of our work and a strategic step toward expanding our reach across Europe and Eurasia. This home base enhances our ability to develop partnerships, deepen long-standing collaborations, and build transnational feminist solidarity. It also opens new opportunities for sustainable funding—crucial at a time when 90% of women’s organizations worldwide face financial strain, and nearly half risk closure within six months (UN Women, 2024).
Through Footage France, we will continue to grow by:
Advancing EU-based feminist research interventions
Conducting fieldwork and healing-centered research across Europe
Partnering with civil society, academia, and grassroots movements
Engaging in localized policy work on Feminist Foreign Policy, Women, Peace and Security (WPS), and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Expanding the visibility and impact of our methodologies and publications
Footage France is not a separate chapter—it is a vital part of a unified, global mission. Our work has always been grounded in compassion, adaptability, and courage. And our mission remains clear: to conduct feminist research interventions, to drive transformative change, and to ensure that the voices of women, gender-diverse individuals, and the most marginalized are heard and integrated into the policies and actions that shape our futures.
We adapt. We push forward. We rise.
